Now Hiring an Assistant Brewer!

Prism Kombucha is a local small business founded in 2017. Our kombucha is made in small batches using organic teas and Canadian wild-foraged ingredients to make a healthy, unique and great-tasting beverage. We’re looking for an Assistant Brewer that will help us scale up our production and grow our business.

Employment details

  • Full time contract starting as soon as possible and lasting until October 1st, 2021 with possibility of extension;

  • Remuneration: 15$/h.

Duties and responsibilities of the position

  • Set up hoses, clamps, pumps and other equipment as required for production and cleaning operations;

  • Perform cleaning and sanitation practices with adherence to operating procedures set forth in training;

  • Oversee production of different flavours and batches of kombucha while adhering to a brewing schedule to meet production needs;

  • Test, observe and document the progress of batches as they ferment;

  • Monitor levels of supplies and ingredients and restock when necessary;

  • Oversee and assist with product packaging;

  • Assist with the creation of new flavours;

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on equipment;

  • Help out with deliveries when necessary;

Qualifications and requirements

  • Valid class 5 drivers license and personal vehicle (work vehicle will be provided for deliveries);

  • Candidate should be able to repeatedly lift up to 20 lbs and work standing up for extended durations of time;

  • Experience in brewing, fermentation or food & beverage operations is an asset;

  • Background or interest in science (biology) is an asset;

  • Ability to work alone and operate with minimal supervision;

Training and certification

If not already completed, the selected applicant will be required to complete the following online training courses during their work hours:

  • Food Handler’s Certification;

  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS);

Prism Kombucha will also provide additional training on operating procedures & brewing techniques. All training is to be completed during working hours.
